Guidelines for Preparing a Book or Material Prospectus

We require that an author submit a prospectus (in either paper or electronic format) to be reviewed by the Editorial Review Committee (ERC) to evaluate the appropriateness of the book or material for the Institute. In some cases, a prospectus will also be sent to independent reviewers. The review process typically takes 4 to 6 weeks from the date of receipt of all materials.

Your prospectus should include the following information:

  • Working title
  • An overview that includes the purpose, rationale, and scope
  • Theoretical constructs
  • Table of contents and outlines of proposed chapters (for a book)
  • Table of contents and outline of proposed components (for a material)
  • Target audience and any related marketing information
  • Anticipated length
  • List of contributors
  • Timeline for completion of first draft
  • Curriculum vita for each author
  • Comparison to competing materials
