Guidelines for Preparing a Test Prospectus
We require that an author submit a prospectus (in either paper or electronic format) to be reviewed by the Editorial Review Committee (ERC) to evaluate the appropriateness of the test for the Institute. In some cases, a prospectus will also be sent to independent reviewers. The review process typically takes 4 to 6 weeks from the date of receipt of all materials.
Your prospectus should include the following information:
- Working title
- An overview that includes the purpose, rationale, and scope
- Theoretical constructs
- Description of the test, including
- subtests
- scores
- reliability and validity information (if available)
- administration and scoring procedures
- examiner qualifications
- sample of test items
- Target population/audience and any related marketing information
- Description of how the test differs from other tests in the same area
- Curriculum vita for each author
